Montana Governor Gianforte approves pro-life laws.
Montana Governor Signs Pro-Life Measures into Law
Montana Governor Greg Gianforte has made a bold statement in support of the “cause of life” by signing five pro-life measures into law. At a signing ceremony on the steps of the Montana State Capitol in Helena, Gianforte pledged his commitment to a “pro-life, pro-child, pro-family” agenda.
Protecting the Most Vulnerable
Gianforte emphasized the importance of protecting the lives of the most vulnerable among us, unborn children. He cited the Declaration of Independence, which states that we are endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Without life, there can be no liberty or pursuit of happiness.
Protecting Infants Born Alive
In addition to a ban on abortions after viability at 24 weeks, except in cases where the mother’s life is at risk, Gianforte signed protections for infants born alive following an attempted abortion. He stated that a baby born alive following an attempted abortion is a patient, a human being who deserves life-saving care and the right to life.
Protecting Medical Providers’ Conscience Rights
Gianforte also signed legislation cementing the right of medical providers to practice according to their conscience. This measure ensures that medical professionals are not forced to participate in procedures that violate their deeply held beliefs.
Reporting Complications from Chemical Abortions
Another measure signed by Gianforte requires the reporting of all complications resulting from chemical abortions. This will help ensure that women are fully informed about the risks associated with this type of abortion.
Clarifying the Right to Privacy
Finally, Gianforte signed a measure clarifying that the right to privacy in the Montana Constitution does not confer a right to abortion. This measure will help prevent abortion activists from using a shaky legal interpretation to advance their pro-abortion agenda.
Standing with Montanans
Gianforte is proud to stand with Montanans in defense of life, support for children, and strengthening of families. He recognizes that all life is precious and needs to be protected. While these pro-life measures may face legal challenges, Gianforte is committed to fighting for the cause of life.
