4 Mississippi convicts escaped, last one found 20 miles away.
Last Escaped Inmate Captured
The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office has announced that the last of the four inmates who escaped from the Raymond Detention Center in Mississippi has been captured. Corey Harrison, 22, was found at a residence in Crystal Springs, about 20 miles from the jail. A female friend who was with him was also arrested and charged as an accomplice. Sheriff Tyree Jones expressed his gratitude to the state, federal, and local law enforcement agencies that assisted with the investigation and search for the escapees.
Other Escapees
- Casey Grayson was found dead at a truck stop in New Orleans. His cause of death is still unknown.
- Dylan Arrington was shot and killed by deputies after barricading himself inside a house and setting it on fire. He is believed to have murdered Anthony Watts and taken his truck.
- Jerry Raynes was caught in Texas after stealing a vehicle used for public works.
U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves had issued a requisition of the Raymond jail in July due to inadequacies in oversight and staffing that led to “a stunning array of assaults, as well as deaths.” The Fifth Circuit stayed the order until ruling on the district’s petition for retrial before the trustee was due to take over control of the prison on January 1st.
