Kim Gardner, a prosecutor supported by Soros, steps down.
. 25 to hear arguments from both sides in the ongoing legal battle surrounding St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner. Gardner, who was bankrolled by liberal billionaire and Democrat mega-donor George Soros, has faced repeated calls for her resignation due to allegations of misconduct and mishandled cases. The final straw for Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey came in February when a teenage volleyball player lost both of her legs after being struck by a car driven by a man who was out on bond for a separate armed robbery case. Bailey claims that nearly 12,000 criminal cases have been dismissed due to Gardner’s failures, and more than 9,000 cases have been thrown out just before trial, leading to the dismissal of over 2,000 cases. Despite Gardner’s resignation, Bailey is calling for her immediate removal from office, citing the danger posed to the city of St. Louis. Gardner has refused to leave office, calling Bailey’s efforts a political “witch hunt” and suggesting that racism and sexism are behind some of the criticism against her.
Soros-Backed Prosecutor’s Office Faces Contempt Proceedings and Resignations
Contempt Proceedings and Resignations
The controversy surrounding St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner continues to escalate as her office faces two contempt of court proceedings. Prosecutors failed to appear for multiple court dates, leading to a Missouri judge’s scathing rebuke of Gardner’s “complete indifference and a conscious disregard for the judicial process.” The judge also called her office a “rudderless ship of chaos.” It remains to be seen if the contempt hearings will be dropped.
In addition to the contempt proceedings, several assistant prosecutors have recently resigned from Gardner’s long understaffed office. The persistent personnel issues have created low morale and a dysfunctional working environment.
Misconduct Allegations and Soft-on-Crime Policies
Gardner’s tenure has been plagued by allegations of misconduct and mishandled cases long before her latest legal issues. She was publicly reprimanded and fined by the Missouri Supreme Court in one case. Critics have also scrutinized her for what they deem soft-on-crime policies.
