Kid Rock Donates Thousands to Marine Veteran’s Legal Defense Fund
Country star Kid Rock has joined the thousands of people who have donated to the GiveSendGo campaign for Marine veteran and college student Daniel Penny. Penny is facing charges over the death of a homeless man who was allegedly threatening people on a New York City subway car before he was restrained by Penny with a headlock for about 15 minutes on May 1. The online fundraiser has surpassed $2.5 million, with Ritchie listed in the “Top Donations” section for his $5,000 contribution.
A Message of Support
Ritchie called Penny a “hero” and criticized Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg, who has charged Penny with second-degree manslaughter. Other high-profile figures who donated to Penny include Max King Realty Holdings LLC President/CEO Brett Kingstone, 2024 Republican Party presidential primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, and political commentator Tim Pool.
Legal Defense Fund
The funds raised will pay for Penny’s legal fees incurred from any criminal charges filed and any future civil lawsuits that may arise, as well as expenses related to his defense. Any proceeds collected which exceed those necessary to cover Mr. Penny’s legal defense will be donated to a mental health advocacy program in New York City.
