AOC steps in as Greene and Bowman clash: ‘She’s not worth it’
AOC Steps in to Stop Argument Between Colleagues
On Wednesday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) intervened in a heated argument between Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) outside the Capitol. The Daily Beast reporter Ursula Perano captured the exchange in a video she shared on Twitter.
The Argument
- Bowman demanded that Greene be expelled from the party, stating that the party was “hanging by a thread.”
- Greene responded by saying that they needed to “get rid of Biden” to save the country.
- Bowman broadened his attack, calling for an end to QAnon, MAGA, and CNN.
- Greene continued to push back, calling for the impeachment of Biden.
Ocasio-Cortez stepped in, telling Bowman that Greene “ain’t worth it.”
Earlier Heckling
Just moments before the argument, Bowman had been heckling Rep. George Santos (R-NY) on the Capitol steps, demanding that he resign after a Democratic attempt to oust him from Congress was delayed. Ocasio-Cortez joined in the calls for Santos to resign.
Santos has been indicted on 13 counts, including wire fraud, illegal financial transactions, lying on financial disclosures, and stealing public funds for his own personal use.
It’s clear that tensions are high in Congress, but it’s important for our elected officials to remember that they are there to serve the people, not engage in petty arguments.
