Pregnant ‘Karen’ Lawyer: She Paid for Bike, Has Receipts.

Pregnant NYC Woman Accused of Racism Over Citi Bike Dispute

A viral video on Twitter showed Sarah Comrie, a pregnant woman from New York City, in an altercation with several young men over a rented Citi Bike. The man off-camera claimed he paid to rent it, while Comrie insisted she paid for it. The confrontation escalated, and Comrie was jostled by one of the young men, causing her to cry. The incident led to Comrie being labeled a “Karen” and even a “white supremacist” on Twitter.

Attorney Provides Proof of Payment

Comrie’s attorney, Justin Marino, provided two receipts that showed Comrie rented the bike and not the other way around. Marino said his client has a receipt showing she paid for the bike at the center of the dispute and a second receipt that shows Comrie rented a second bicycle to get home after being heckled by a crowd of onlookers. The Community Note attached to the tweet that accused Comrie of racism was updated to reflect that she paid for the bike and a group of black teenagers robbed her bike.

Attorney Accuses Comrie of Endangering Black Men

Attorney Ben Crump accused Comrie of endangering black men in a now-deleted tweet. He claimed that Comrie tried to weaponize her tears to paint the man as a threat. However, the proof provided by Comrie’s attorney shows that she paid for the bike and was not trying to steal it from anyone.
