Trump taunts Village People with tattoo video to ‘YMCA’ tune.
Trump shares video of supporter getting tattoo of his autograph
Former President Donald Trump shared a video on social media of a supporter getting a tattoo of his autograph while the Village People’s song “Y.M.C.A.” played in the background. The video was posted almost a week after the band’s manager sent a cease-and-desist letter to Trump for using their songs alongside impersonators at his Mar-a-Lago resort. In the video, Trump is seen autographing the supporter’s bicep before the supporter heads to Water Street Tattoo in West Palm Beach, Florida, to have the autograph permanently inked. The post drew thousands of reactions, with several praising the man’s tattoo.
Village People’s cease-and-desist letter
The Village People’s letter, sent on May 15, 2023, asserted that the Mar-a-Lago performance was “unauthorized” and violated the Lanham Act, United States trademark law protecting owners “against the use of similar marks if such use is likely to result in consumer confusion.” Trump’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, reportedly said he would only correspond with the lawyers of the Village People in response to the letter.
Water Street Tattoo also shared the Instagram video of the Trump supporter getting the tattoo on its IG stories.
