Actor Ray Stevenson Dies at 58
Actor Ray Stevenson, known for his roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and “Punisher: War Zone,” passed away at the age of 58 while on the set of the film “Cassino in Ischia” in Italy. The cause of death is currently unknown.
Stevenson’s Career
- Stevenson was born in Northern Ireland on May 25, 1964.
- His first major film credit was 1998’s “The Theory of Flight.”
- He played Dagonet in 2004’s “King Arthur.”
- He portrayed Frank Castle in “Punisher: War Zone” and played Volstagg in three Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
- He appeared in the “Divergent” trilogy and played Governor Scott Buxton in the Indian film “RRR.”
- On television, he starred in “Rome” and “Dexter.”
Personal Life
Stevenson is survived by his three children with his Italian anthropologist girlfriend Elisabetta Caraccia. He would have turned 59 later this week.
Stevenson cited actors Gene Hackman and Lee Marvin as influences in a 2020 interview with Backstage, saying, “It was never the young, hot leading man; it was men who I could identify with.”
His Disney+ “Star Wars” spinoff series “Ahsoka” was set to release, but his death came before its premiere.
Ray Stevenson will be missed by his fans and the entertainment industry.
