LGBT groups refuse Dodgers Pride Night due to disinvitation of ‘Queer and Trans Nuns’.
LA Dodgers Face Backlash from LGBT Organizations over Disinviting Drag Troupe from Pride Night
LA Pride and the Los Angeles LGBT Center have announced their withdrawal from the LA Dodgers’ annual Pride Night celebration, scheduled for June 16, after the team disinvited the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence from the event. The group of “queer and trans nuns” was set to receive a Community Hero Award. The Dodgers’ decision followed criticism from Catholic organizations and Senator Marco Rubio, who claimed the group mocked their faith. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, which promotes human rights and diversity, has a chapter in LA and San Francisco. Anaheim Mayor Ashleigh Aitken has invited the group to join her for a Pride Night being held by the Anaheim Angels.
