Anheuser-Busch repurchases expired Bud Light cases after Dylan Mulvaney incident.
Get Cash for Your Unsold Bud Light Cases with Anheuser-Busch
Hey retailers, are you stuck with unsold cases of Bud Light taking up valuable space in your store? Don’t worry, Anheuser-Busch has got your back! In the aftermath of a controversial partnership with trans-identifying influencer Dylan Mulvaney, sales of Bud Light have taken a hit. But now, the company is offering to buy back any unsold cases.
Celebrities Join the Boycott
The Wall Street Journal reports that the boycotts against the brand are still going strong. Mulvaney’s TikTok video, in which she raves about a gift from Bud Light – a can featuring her face – sparked a boycott that caused sales of the beverage to drop almost overnight. By mid-May, Bud Light sales were down 28% compared to the same period in 2022, according to a Bump Williams analysis of Nielsen data.
- Musician Kid Rock shared a video of himself firing a gun at several cases of Bud Light, saying, “F*** Bud Light. And f*** Anheuser-Busch.”
- Nashville bar owner and country music star John Rich revealed that customers had simply stopped buying Bud Light when they came into his establishment.
Despite the fact that many politically motivated boycotts in the past have quickly lost steam or failed outright, Bud Light appears to be having trouble righting the ship.
Back to Traditional Advertising
The brand had already been losing ground to hard seltzers and craft beers when it hired Alissa Heinerscheid to help it reach new audiences. But when the Mulvaney partnership backfired, Heinerscheid was quickly placed on leave.
