DeSantis pledges to defend faith at religious event.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Hints at Presidential Run During Speech to Christian Broadcasters

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently addressed the National Religious Broadcasters convention and left the audience with the impression that he has plans beyond his current role. While he didn’t explicitly state that he was running for president, his speech hinted at a potential presidential run.

DeSantis urged the audience to “put on the full armor of God” and “stand firm for the truth.” He also spoke about the troubled state of the nation and the need for people of faith to lead the way. According to DeSantis, the current administration has been hijacked by leftist progressive ideology and doesn’t value people of faith.

Reaching 90 Million Americans per Day

The National Religious Broadcasters convention draws representatives from over 4,000 Christian radio and television stations and more than 200 media-related companies. The multibillion-dollar U.S. Christian broadcasting, publishing, and digital media industries reach an estimated 150 million readers, listeners, and viewers per week. About 90 million Americans say they experience Christian media daily, according to Barna Research and the Association of American Publishers.

DeSantis’s speech was likely among his last public remarks before his expected formal announcement that he’ll challenge former President Donald Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. While not officially campaigning for president, DeSantis has toured 14 states since February, including early primary states, while touting his book heralding “the free state of Florida” and offering the “Florida Blueprint” as a framework for a prospective presidential administration.

Parent’s Rights, Disney, Israel

DeSantis also spoke about his recent legislative initiatives, including a “heartbeat” abortion bill, parents’ rights legislation, and eliminating Marxist-inspired critical race theory from the state’s K–12 curriculum. He also took a swipe at Disney, which has been pushing a progressive agenda, saying, “If Disney doesn’t like that, well, here I stand. I am not backing down one inch.”

DeSantis has been a vocal supporter of Israel and has made several trips to the country. He believes that the U.S. needs to stand with Israel and that the two countries share a special bond.
