Liberal columnist suggests Kentucky Republicans supporting black candidate may have racist motives.

Is Daniel Cameron Out of Touch with Black People?

A liberal columnist from the Louisville Courier Journal, Joseph Gerth, has accused Kentucky Republicans who voted for Daniel Cameron, a black man, as the party’s gubernatorial nominee of still being capable of voting with “racism or racist intent.” In his recent article, Gerth argues that GOP voters who supported Cameron may have exhibited their racism at the ballot box.

Gerth goes on to paint Cameron, the first black man elected statewide in Kentucky, as anti-black, citing the Republican’s support for law enforcement and opposition towards critical race theory. This is not the first time Cameron has been attacked for his status as a black conservative. Last year, a fellow Courier Journal columnist called Cameron “white supremacy in blackface.”

Standing Up for His Beliefs

Cameron responded to Gerth’s accusations by hammering him on Twitter, arguing that the writer “has a unique perspective born out of a far-left-world-view that cannot fathom black Americans thinking differently than him.” Cameron went on to say that he will continue to stand unapologetically for the values he believes in, despite narrow and backwards thinking from Gerth and the radical left media.

Regardless of the attacks, Cameron is determined to take on Kentucky Democratic governor Andy Beshear in November. The race has intensified since last week’s primary, with the Democratic Governors Association pledging to spend money “at a historic pace” to ensure Beshear tops Cameron.

Conclusion

It’s clear that Daniel Cameron is not afraid to stand up for his beliefs, even in the face of criticism from the media. As the first black man elected statewide in Kentucky, Cameron is breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations of black conservatives. It remains to be seen whether he will be successful in his bid for governor, but one thing is for sure: he will not back down from a fight.

  • Key Takeaway: Despite accusations of being out of touch with black people, Daniel Cameron remains committed to his beliefs and is determined to become Kentucky’s next governor.
