RFK Jr. wants to restore the Democratic Party’s trustworthy democracy template.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Aims to Restore Trust in the Democratic Party
Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. believes that the public has lost faith in America’s government. He hopes to restore trust in the Democratic Party as a “template of democracy.”
According to Kennedy, the economic and political systems are rigged against many Americans, and elections are also rigged. He told Fox News host Laura Ingraham that it’s crucial for the Democratic Party to become a template for democracy.
Engaging with the Public
Kennedy called on President Joe Biden to engage in conversations and debates throughout the Democratic primary. He believes that candidates must do “retail politics” to understand the desperation that Americans are living in today. Kennedy said, “That’s the only way that you really understand the desperation that Americans are living in today, to go out and talk to them without that kind of insulation.”
He added, “I hope at some point President Biden will share my sympathies and will debate his opponents.”
Protecting the Constitution
Kennedy is concerned about maintaining the integrity of the Constitution, given governmental mandates during the coronavirus pandemic. He noted that the First Amendment on religion, freedom of association, and freedom of speech were suspended during the lockdowns. The 7th Amendment was also banned, and property rights were abolished. Kennedy believes that the Constitution was written for hard times and that there’s no excuse for suspending it.
Who is Robert F. Kennedy Jr.?
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the son of former New York Democratic Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy. He faces an uphill battle to defeat Biden for the Democratic presidential nomination.
When asked if he would support Biden should the president receive the party’s nomination, Kennedy Jr. told Ingraham, “I expect to be the nominee. I do not have a plan B.”
He did, however, say that if a Republican were to be elected president in 2024, he would consider serving as a Cabinet member should he be asked.
