Graduates snub Liz Cheney during speech, one delivers harsh message on cap.
Former GOP Congresswoman Liz Cheney Booed During Commencement Address
Former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney was met with boos and insults during her commencement address at Colorado College in Colorado Springs on Sunday. One student even wore a graduation cap with a message that read, “Why listen to a racist, imperialist, transphobic, war monger??? Your hate is loud.”
Cheney, who has been a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump and his supporters, made the Jan. 6 Capitol incursion and her opposition to Trump the focal points of her speech. “After the 2020 election and the attack of January 6th, my fellow Republicans wanted me to lie,” she told students. “They wanted me to say the 2020 election was stolen, the attack of January 6th wasn’t a big deal, and Donald Trump wasn’t dangerous.”
According to reports, Cheney has very few fans left on either the left or the right. Students turned their chairs away from her and refused to look at her during her speech, while others booed.

Cheney lost her position as the chair of the House Republican Conference in May 2021 and was not competitive in her primary last year, losing to Republican Harriet Hageman. The Jan. 6 committee disbanded last year, and Cheney left office in January.
Cheney’s Controversial Legacy
The daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, Liz Cheney temporarily endeared herself to many on the left during her time as a prominent member of the House select committee investigating the incursion. However, her opposition to Trump and his supporters has made her a pariah in the Republican Party.
Despite her controversial legacy, Cheney remains a vocal critic of Trump and his supporters, and her speech at Colorado College is just the latest example of her willingness to speak out against them.
Conclusion
While Cheney’s speech may have been met with boos and insults, it is clear that she remains committed to her principles and her opposition to Trump and his supporters. Whether or not she will be able to regain her position of influence in the Republican Party remains to be seen.
