Wray set new requirement for releasing Biden files, says Comer.
House Oversight Committee Chairman Reveals FBI Director’s Response to Subpoenaed Biden Documents
“He offered us the opportunity to look at it in a private ship, but he was going to redact it,” Comer told Hannity. “My experience with getting documents from the FBI when they’re redacted [is] it’s all black lines — they don’t show anything.”
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) recently spoke out about FBI Director Christopher Wray’s response to the subpoenaed Biden documents. According to Comer, Wray confirmed the existence of the FD-1023 form alleging a “criminal scheme” involving President Joe Biden, but failed to commit to providing the form to the House Oversight Committee.
Biden’s Alleged Involvement in Global Semiconductor Race
During a phone call with Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Wray reportedly said that he would redact the documents and allow them to be viewed in a secure and private manner. However, Comer expressed skepticism about the redaction process, stating that his previous experience with redacted FBI documents has resulted in “all black lines” that don’t reveal any information.
Comer also noted that Wray only admitted the form’s existence after he and Grassley said they had already seen a copy of the form. This lack of transparency has caused Comer’s confidence in Wray to decline, but he remains confident in the merit of the allegations contained within the form.
“The reason we find this allegation credible, is not only because of the credibility of the whistleblower, but because we’ve seen a pattern of Joe Biden when he was vice president leaving a country after he talks about foreign aid and foreign policy and his family members start receiving payments from that company through shell companies that are then laundered down to family members,” Comer said. “So there is a pattern of behavior.”
Grassley has warned that Wray’s failure to comply with the terms of the subpoena will have consequences. The House Oversight Committee will continue its contempt of Congress proceedings unless Wray produces the unredacted documents by Tuesday or Wednesday.
In response to Comer’s actions, the FBI accused him of escalating the situation and called the talk of holding Wray in contempt “unnecessary.” However, the FBI remains committed to cooperating with the Committee in good faith and has committed to providing access to information responsive to the Committee’s subpoena in a format and setting that maintains confidentiality and protects important security interests and the integrity of FBI investigations.
