Sen. Joe Manchin Considering Third-Party Bid for White House in 2024

Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) is making headlines after revealing that he’s “not ruling anything out” when it comes to potentially running for the White House in 2024 as a third-party candidate.

“[I’m] not ruling anything in, not ruling anything out.”

Manchin, who is known for his centrist views and describes himself as a “conservative Democrat,” believes that a third-party bid could be necessary due to the rise of both the “far-left” and “far-right” in recent years.

“You better have Plan B because if Plan A shows that we’re going to the far reaches of both sides, the far left and the far right, and that people don’t want to go to the far left and the far right, they want to be governed from the middle.”

Manchin emphasizes the importance of having a Plan B ready to go in order for the country to remain a superpower and give confidence to people around the world that the U.S. dollar should be the reserve currency and that support for freedom and democracy should come from the U.S. government and Defense Department.

The Most Powerful Man in Washington

Manchin’s position as the deciding swing vote on practically every Democrat-backed reconciliation spending bill during the 117th Congress has earned him the title of “the most powerful man in Washington.”

While his opposition to certain Democrat initiatives has won him praise and respect from Republicans, he has also faced criticism from the left wing of his party for not fully supporting Democrat aspirations.

It remains to be seen whether Manchin will actually make a third-party bid for the White House in 2024, but his comments have certainly sparked interest and speculation.
