Tim Scott rebukes ‘The View’ for ‘harmful, insulting’ remarks on Black individuals.

Sen. Tim Scott Slams “The View” for Dangerous and Offensive Messages

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) recently appeared on ABC talk show “The View” and called out the show for airing “dangerous, offensive, and disgusting” messages about success among black people being the “exception and not the rule.” Scott, who recently announced his candidacy for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, was asked by co-host Sunny Hostin to explain his claim that he doesn’t believe in “systemic racism.”

Scott responded by saying, “One of the reasons why I’m on the show is because of the comments that were made frankly on this show that the only way for a young African American kid to be successful in this country is to be the exception and not the rule. That is a dangerous, offensive, disgusting message to send to our young people today, that the only way to succeed is by being the exception.”

Hostin interrupted Scott and claimed that all the examples he provided were “still exceptions.” However, Scott pointed out that African Americans have made significant progress in America, citing examples such as having an African American president, vice president, and secretaries of state, as well as African Americans in leadership positions in his home city and the highway patrol for South Carolina.

Scott also noted that progress can be measured in generations and that every kid today can see how much progress has been made in the country by simply changing the channel and seeing African-American and Hispanic hosts on major news networks.

Conclusion

Sen. Tim Scott’s appearance on “The View” sparked an important conversation about the messages being sent to young African Americans about success. Scott’s message of progress and hope is an important reminder that every generation can make a difference and that success is not just for exceptions, but for everyone who works hard and believes in themselves.
