Trump Takes on Special Counsel Jack Smith Ahead of Arraignment Hearing
Former President Donald Trump is not backing down. He issued a Truth Social message aimed at special counsel Jack Smith just before his arraignment hearing for federal document-mishandling charges in Miami. In the message, Trump called Smith a “thug” and accused him of being part of a corrupt Injustice Department.

Trump also brought up Smith’s record in federal corruption cases, citing four cases in which Smith was involved, but only securing a conviction that lasted upon appeal in one of them. Trump accused Smith of planting evidence against him in boxes seized from Mar-a-Lago in an unprecedented August raid.
Trump linked to a National Pulse report that documents some of Smith’s family connections, which include links to the Democratic Party and leftist oligarch George Soros.
