Mike Pence deems Trump’s arraignment a sorrowful day for America.
Former Vice President Mike Pence Calls Trump’s Arraignment a “Sad Day” for America
In a recent interview with Daily Wire host Ben Shapiro, former Vice President Mike Pence expressed his dismay over the arraignment of former President Donald Trump. Describing it as a “sad day” for the nation, Pence pledged to restore Americans’ faith in the justice system if elected president.
Addressing Trump’s Charges and Campaign Issues
During the wide-ranging interview on Shapiro’s Wednesday show, Pence discussed Trump’s federal charges related to the handling of sensitive documents. He also touched on key campaign issues, such as the imposition of transgender ideology on American children.
“Yesterday was a sad day in the life of this nation. I mean, literally, to see a former president of the United States in the dock and face charges in a criminal indictment, I think is deeply discouraging to millions of Americans,” Pence said, acknowledging the seriousness of the charges against Trump. However, he emphasized that everyone is innocent until proven guilty and that the president deserves his day in court.
Restoring Confidence in the Justice System
Pence highlighted the backdrop of “years of politicization in the Department of Justice” and expressed his belief that politics may have played a role in the case against Trump. He vowed to clean house and restore confidence in equal treatment under the law at the DOJ if elected president.
As one of the candidates vying for the Republican nomination, Pence also faced an investigation into his handling of classified documents. However, federal prosecutors declined to file criminal charges against him.

Protecting Children from Radical Gender Ideology
During the interview, Pence voiced his concerns about the spread of radical gender ideology and referenced a challenge he was supporting against an Iowa school district policy that allows students to socially “transition” without parental permission. He promised to protect children from this ideology and vowed to stand up for traditional values throughout his campaign.
Pence, who previously served as a representative for Indiana and governor of the state, recently launched his campaign for president. He became the first former vice president in the modern era to run against the president he served alongside.
During the interview, Pence also discussed other key issues, including the border, President Joe Biden’s Afghanistan withdrawal, and the economy, which has experienced significant inflation under Biden’s administration.
