Gov. Stitt: ‘DeSantis is the one, can defeat Biden, serve two terms’
Gov. Kevin Stitt Responds to Trump’s Criticism Over Endorsement
Gov. Kevin Stitt (R-OK) has fired back at former President Donald Trump’s criticism of his endorsement of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for president in 2024. In an interview with Neil Cavuto on Fox Business, Stitt defended his decision, emphasizing DeSantis’s ability to defeat Joe Biden and serve as a strong leader for eight years.
Stitt’s Endorsement Makes History
Stitt publicly endorsed DeSantis during a recent event in Tulsa, Oklahoma, making him the first fellow governor to back DeSantis’s presidential bid. This endorsement carries significant weight and highlights the confidence Stitt has in DeSantis’s capabilities.
“I LOVE Oklahoma & won 77 out of 77 Counties, something that never happened before. Ronald Reagan was next with 56,” said Trump. “Anyway, I gave him my endorsement, he immediately went way up, and won.”
Trump, however, took to Truth Social to express his disappointment, recalling a phone call from Stitt seeking his endorsement in a previous election. Despite Trump’s claims, Stitt made it clear that he did not inform the former president of his endorsement plans.
“Now, despite the fact that DeSanctimonious is losing to Biden, & me, Stitt just endorsed him. Wow! He disliked ‘the Indians’ & my great Senate pick!” Trump continued.
Stitt acknowledged that Trump may be upset with his decision, but he believes this is a typical response from the former president when someone goes against him. Stitt also pointed out that Trump did not endorse him during his initial run for governor in 2018.
Despite endorsing DeSantis, Stitt assured Cavuto that he will support the Republican nominee for president, demonstrating his commitment to the party’s unity.
