17 unions endorse Biden for 2024.

President Joe Biden Receives Endorsement from 17 Labor Unions

President Joe Biden has secured the endorsement of a diverse group of 17 unions as he gears up for his reelection campaign in 2024. This significant show of support highlights Biden’s self-proclaimed title as the most pro-union president in history. The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), representing 750,000 federal workers, joined forces with 16 other labor organizations to endorse Biden on Friday.

“During his first term, President Biden has proven himself to be the most labor-friendly president in our lifetime,” expressed AFGE President Everett Kelley in a prepared statement. “The results of our endorsement process show that he is the overwhelming choice of AFGE members. It’s not hard to see why.”

AFGE’s endorsement stems from Biden’s accomplishments, including salary increases, reversing the policies of the previous administration, granting federal employees 15 weeks of emergency leave, and actively working towards expanding the union’s membership.

Labor unions have long been strong supporters of Biden and Democratic candidates in general. Biden launched his 2020 presidential campaign at a Teamsters hall in Pittsburgh, and labor organizations contributed a staggering $27.5 million to support his successful bid for the White House.

Another notable union endorsing Biden is the AFL-CIO, representing over 12.5 million workers. This endorsement marks the earliest in the organization’s history.

The announcement comes just one day before Biden’s rally in Philadelphia, which is centered around the labor movement.

The Biden campaign responded to the news with their own statement, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support. Campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez stated, “The president and vice president are humbled to have earned this historic groundswell of support nearly 17 months before the 2024 election. With the early support from the labor movement, our campaign can tap into organized labor’s incomparable organizing abilities, which allows us to reach deep into communities and talk to voters about the tens of thousands of good-paying union jobs created by President Biden’s first-term agenda.”
