Who Can Apply?

If you are a former foster child and meet the following criteria, you could be one of the lucky 200 recipients:

  • Be at least 21 years old (but not turning 24 before Sept. 1)
  • Have been in the care of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services on or after your 18th birthday
  • Have a household income at or below 100% of the area median income for a single-person household or 120% of the area median income for a household of two or more persons
  • Have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Not currently enrolled in another guaranteed income program

What’s Happening with the Program?

This new batch of recipients will join the 1,000 individuals who have already been selected to receive $1,000 every month for three years. Now, the University of Pennsylvania and other research partners will conduct a randomized control study to analyze the outcomes of the program.
