Raskin urges FBI to share Biden ‘bribery’ briefing details with Oversight Committee.

House Oversight Committee Requests Information on Bribery Allegations Against President Biden

The ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, Jamie Raskin (D-MD), has sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, requesting that information from a June 5 FBI briefing regarding allegations of bribery against President Joe Biden be provided to the entire committee. Raskin believes that the information shared during the briefing, which included crucial context, should be made available to all committee members.

Crucial Context Revealed in FBI Briefing

According to Raskin’s letter, senior FBI officials provided crucial context during the briefing, answering questions for over an hour. Raskin believes that the additional non-classified information shared during the briefing should be reiterated in writing for the benefit of all committee members.

Raskin also highlighted several revelations from the briefing, including the allegations contained in the FD-1023 form. The form includes allegations made by a confidential human source (CHS) regarding a criminal bribery scheme involving President Biden and a Ukrainian energy company. However, the CHS noted that he could not verify the veracity of these allegations.

Key Points from the Briefing

Raskin drew attention to the following key points from the briefing:

  • In January 2020, Attorney General William Barr assigned U.S. Attorney Scott Brady to review allegations made by Rudy Giuliani regarding corruption involving the Bidens and a Ukrainian energy company.
  • Brady led a team of prosecutors and FBI agents in investigating the allegations, which included reviewing suspicious activity reports and interviewing the CHS.
  • Much of the information provided by the CHS had already been shared by Giuliani.
  • After eight months, the investigation was closed due to insufficient evidence.
  • The FBI did not suggest during the briefing that there is an ongoing investigation into bribery allegations.

Raskin and Oversight Chair Rep. James Comer (R-KY) had differing conclusions after the briefing. Raskin believed that further investigation was unnecessary, while Comer argued that the briefing highlighted the need for additional investigation.

Oversight Republicans have disputed Raskin’s claims, calling them lies. Comer stated that the FD-1023 form did not originate from Giuliani and that it was forwarded to the U.S. Attorney in Delaware for further investigation. He emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in addressing the serious allegations of bribery against President Biden.

The House Oversight Committee remains committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring accountability for the American people, despite distractions and false information from Democrats.
