Congressional Delegate Stacey Plaskett Corrects Herself After Controversial Statement
Congressional Delegate Stacey Plaskett (D-USVI) found herself in hot water on Sunday after making a controversial statement during a live television interview. Plaskett suggested that former President Donald Trump should be “shot,” but quickly corrected herself.
Plaskett made the comment while discussing the federal charges against Trump for his alleged mishandling of classified documents after leaving the White House in January 2021.

During the interview, Plaskett expressed her concerns about Trump having access to classified information and sharing it at his resort. She stated, “should be terrifying to all Americans and he needs to be shot… stopped.” However, she quickly corrected herself, emphasizing the importance of stopping him legally.
Plaskett assured that Trump would have his day in court and receive the same opportunity to defend himself as any other American citizen. She highlighted the fact that he had been indicted in a red state, Florida, by his peers.
“Of course, he’s going to have his day in court,” Plaskett continued. “Let’s remember that he was indicted by his peers — individual Americans who live in South Florida, a red state — they saw enough that there was probable cause for him to bring this indictment for him to stand trial.”
Plaskett also addressed the skepticism some Americans have towards the Justice Department and the FBI under President Joe Biden. She attributed these doubts to Republican “propaganda” rather than any wrongdoing by the current administration.

Plaskett expressed concern about her GOP colleagues’ belief in a two-tiered system that allows them to get away with more than everyday Americans. She argued that this skepticism towards the FBI and the Department of Justice is a result of Republican propaganda.
