Israel’s Jenin raid: 3 killed, many injured in firefight.
Israeli Raid on West Bank City of Jenin Leaves Three Palestinians Dead
At least three Palestinians have lost their lives and dozens more have been wounded following a raid by Israel on the West Bank city of Jenin on Monday. The clash occurred in the early morning hours as the Israeli Defense Forces launched an operation against Palestinian militants. According to Haaretz, eight IDF and border police soldiers were also injured during the battle.
Tragic Losses and Injuries
Among the casualties were a teenager and two men in their 20s, as reported by the Palestinian Health Ministry. Additionally, 31 others sustained injuries, including a young girl with a critical head wound.
A Massive Exchange of Fire
The IDF and Israel Border Police entered the occupied city with the intention of apprehending two wanted suspects. However, they encountered a significant exchange of fire, resulting in the escalation of the situation.
Intense Raid Tactics
Israel’s raid involved the use of attack helicopters, stun grenades, and toxic gas, according to Wafa News Agency. Disturbing video footage captured an Israeli helicopter firing missiles at a refugee camp in Jenin. The IDF stated that the helicopters targeted armed individuals after one of their vehicles was damaged by an explosive device while leaving the refugee camp.
Call for a Large-Scale Operation
Bezalel Smotrich, Israel’s finance minister, has publicly advocated for a “large-scale operation across the [occupied] West Bank,” declaring that “the time had come,” as reported by Al Jazeera. This sentiment has been echoed within Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, which has increasingly shifted to the right since his assumption of office in December.
