Data reveals remote workers leaving Democratic-run cities.
New data reveal that remote workers are escaping Democrat-run cities by the thousands.
During the pandemic and the widespread institution of work-from-home policies, workers moved out of cities in record numbers. Some overwhelmingly Democratic metropolitan areas were particularly hard hit, including New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago.
New York led the pack, according to American Community Survey data analyzed by the New York Times, with a net migration loss of 116,000 remote workers. Los Angeles lost 53,000 remote workers, San Francisco 32,000, and Chicago 29,000.
The exodus of remote workers coincides with the rise in crime rates under Democratic leadership in their former home cities.
In New York, bail reform is keeping criminals out of prison and contributing to reoffending. A small group of thieves who continue to be released are responsible for one-third of retail crime. Last month, a 35-year-old woman was pushed in front of a train and left paralyzed by a man believed to be homeless.
In Chicago, the homicide rate has skyrocketed nearly 40 percent since 2019, as reported by watchdog Wirepoints. The city’s district attorney, George Soros-backed prosecutor Kim Foxx, is also refusing to bring charges against violent criminals, resulting in a 27 percent decrease in convictions and a 54 percent jump in dismissed cases despite rising crime.
San Francisco is experiencing similar increases in crime, to the extent that businesses have abandoned the city. Homicides in San Francisco have increased nearly 40 percent from 2020 to 2022, and deaths from fentanyl have spiked.
