Sen. Chuck Grassley Vows to Continue Investigation into Hunter Biden

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), who has been leading an investigation into Hunter Biden, expressed dissatisfaction with the recent plea agreement unveiled by federal prosecutors. Despite the agreement related to tax crimes and the purchase of a handgun, Grassley remains determined to pursue his investigation.

Biden Faces Charges of Tax Evasion and Firearms Offense

In a court filing in Delaware on Tuesday, it was revealed that Hunter Biden, 53, will plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax evasion charges and one firearms offense. This announcement immediately sparked accusations of a “double standard” by congressional Republicans, including Grassley, who are actively investigating Hunter Biden’s business dealings and claims of influence-peddling.

“Today’s plea deal cannot be the final word given the significant body of evidence that the FBI and Justice Department has at its disposal. It certainly won’t be for me,” stated Sen. Grassley in a press release.

Accusations of Criminal Conduct Involving Other Biden Family Members

Sen. Grassley also accused the Department of Justice of failing to act on other information regarding criminal conduct involving additional Biden family members. Whistleblowers within the Justice Department and IRS have allegedly warned that the FBI and Justice Department have neglected to follow normal investigative procedures and have not thoroughly pursued verifiable information about criminal activities.

“All of this information has been provided to the Department,” Grassley emphasized.

Continued Pursuit of Criminal Bribery Scheme Allegations

Grassley continues to pursue a theory alleging a criminal bribery scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden, his son Hunter Biden, and a Burisma executive. Last week, the senator claimed on the Senate floor that the executive, who paid $5 million, possessed audio recordings of calls with the Biden family as an “insurance policy.” However, these claims have yet to be verified.

The mention of Burisma became significant when then-President Donald Trump referenced it in a July 2019 call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This call led to a whistleblower complaint, which subsequently triggered Democratic-led impeachment proceedings against Trump in the House and his eventual acquittal in the Senate.
