DNC chief targets Nancy Mace for ‘hypocritical’ abortion stance: ‘Her voting contradicts’

The Democratic Party’s Focus on Abortion in the 2024 Elections

The Democratic National Committee (DNC), Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) are gearing up for the 2024 elections, with a strong emphasis on the abortion issue. They are skeptical of Republican candidates who present themselves as centrists on this topic.

Calling Out Hypocrisy and Extremism

DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison recently singled out Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) during a press call, accusing her of putting on a moderate facade. Harrison claimed that Mace speaks one way on TV but votes differently on the floor. He vowed to expose this hypocrisy and extremism, emphasizing that every Republican in the party supports extreme measures.

In response, Mace fired back at the DNC, stating, “I won’t be lectured by those who support abortion up to the moment of birth.” She highlighted the extreme position taken by the Left on this issue and criticized their alleged “war on women and girls.” Mace urged the DNC to focus on finding solutions instead of playing politics with women and children.

Mace’s district is considered “likely Republican” according to the Cook Political Report. She holds a “B” rating from the prominent anti-abortion organization Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America. However, she has deviated from the organization’s wishes in the past. In 2022, Mace voted in favor of the Right to Contraception Act, emphasizing the importance of contraceptives for overall health.

Mace expressed her discontent during a closed-door meeting with Republican leadership, questioning the decision to reinforce limits on taxpayer-funded abortion. She asked why they were pursuing such measures. As the 2024 elections draw near, Mace has been vocal about her stance on abortion. She believes that her position as a reelected Republican in a purple district allows her to offer a roadmap for winning over independent voters, suburban women, and suburban moms.

The DNC has announced plans for a multi-state ad campaign on abortion. Digital billboards will be launched in Atlanta, Phoenix, Milwaukee, Tallahassee, Raleigh, and Times Square. Additionally, ads will appear on Facebook, Instagram, and CTV in key battleground states. The party will also purchase a full-page ad in the Washington Post.
