Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb backs Mike Pence for 2024 Presidency.
Indiana Governor Endorses Mike Pence for President in 2024
Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb has given his endorsement to Mike Pence for the U.S. presidency in 2024, making it his most significant endorsement to date.
Pence, the former vice president, officially entered the race on June 7 and shared the news of Holcomb’s endorsement in a lengthy statement on Twitter. In the statement, Pence expressed his gratitude to his “fellow Hoosier” for the support.
“Governor Holcomb’s endorsement means a lot to Karen and me as we strive to make America stronger and more prosperous,” said Pence, who hails from Indiana.
Pence also acknowledged Holcomb’s unwavering support during their time working together. As governor of Indiana from 2013 to 2017, Pence had Holcomb as his lieutenant governor from 2016 to 2017. After Pence left to serve as vice president in the Trump administration, Holcomb succeeded him as governor.
Holcomb, who has known Pence for decades, praised the former vice president’s honesty and experience. He commended Pence for his integrity and consistent dedication to serving the state and the nation.
Pence Sets Himself Apart from Trump
Holcomb concluded his endorsement by stating, “He’s experienced, allergic to personal scandal, and prepared to serve as our next President on day one. As one Hoosier Governor to another, I look forward to supporting him as the weeks and months ahead unfold.”
Pence announced his presidential bid earlier this month with a video on Twitter. In the video, he criticized President Joe Biden and the “radical left” for weakening the United States domestically and internationally and negatively impacting the economy.
While Pence did not mention former President Donald Trump in his video, he has recently distanced himself from Trump, whom he strongly supported during his previous campaigns and presidency. Trump announced his own presidential run in November.
During a CNN town hall in Des Moines, Iowa on June 7, Pence took different positions from Trump on issues such as Russian President Vladimir Putin, government spending, and the January 6 Capitol breach. This was an effort to distinguish himself from his competitor, who already has significant support.
