Last Missouri direct payment for June food stamps, up to $4,223, distributed on Thursday.
Missouri’s Final Payment for SNAP Recipients
Missouri is wrapping up its support for recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) with a final payment scheduled for Thursday. This marks the last day that SNAP beneficiaries will receive their direct payments, which began on June 1.
Supporting Missourians with SNAP
With approximately 657,900 people in Missouri, accounting for 11% of the population, relying on food stamps, SNAP plays a crucial role in providing assistance. On average, each household member receives $177 per month to help meet their nutritional needs.
SNAP benefits in Missouri are determined based on household size and income. For a household of one, the maximum amount is $281, while a household of 20 can receive up to $4,223. Beyond 20 members, an additional $211 is added for each individual.
How SNAP Benefits Work
Approved applicants for SNAP benefits will receive their funds through a prepaid electronic benefit transfer (EBT) card. This card functions like a debit card and can be used at grocery stores, farmers markets, and select online retailers. The funds are specifically intended for purchasing healthy foods.
Varied Recipient Numbers
The number of SNAP recipients varies across states, with larger populations or higher poverty rates typically seeing a greater number of beneficiaries. Missouri’s commitment to supporting its residents through SNAP is evident in the significant number of individuals relying on this program.
