LIHEAP utility payments: Application for help with utility bill payments closing in eight days

Applications for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program in Georgia Closing Soon!

Don’t miss out on your chance to receive financial assistance for your utility bills! The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is here to help hard-pressed citizens in Georgia. LIHEAP provides support for impoverished households, including energy bill payments, energy crises, and even minor home repairs related to energy efficiency.

The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services is currently accepting applications for LIHEAP until June 30. This federal program operates independently in each state, with funding provided by the government. So, if you’re struggling to pay your energy bills, now is the time to apply!

Who is Eligible?

To qualify for LIHEAP, you must be a United States citizen and have a gross annual household income that is at least 60% below the State’s Median Income. Additionally, you must be fully responsible for paying your home’s energy bills.

However, please note that due to limited funding, only a limited number of applicants will be accepted. On average, only about 20% of those eligible receive LIHEAP benefits. Once the funds run out, no further assistance can be provided until Congress authorizes a new package.

It’s important to remember that LIHEAP payments only cover heating and cooling costs. Other household expenses, such as water or sewage bills, are not included.

Don’t wait any longer! Apply for LIHEAP today and secure the financial support you need to keep your home comfortable.

“The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) is committed to ensuring that persons with low income, especially those who are senior citizens or are medically homebound, have meaningful access to all programs and activities conducted or supported by local Community Action Agencies (CAA),” the website reads.
