Karine Jean-Pierre evades questions about Hunter Biden’s texts connecting his father to a shakedown.
White House Press Secretary Refuses to Address Hunter Biden’s Text Messages
During a recent press briefing, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre avoided commenting on newly uncovered text messages involving Hunter Biden. These messages suggest that Hunter Biden threatened a Chinese business partner with political retaliation from his father, Joe Biden, back in 2017.
Jean-Pierre repeatedly dodged questions about the messages and directed reporters to the White House counsel’s office for further information.
When pressed further, Jean-Pierre snapped at reporters, stating, “I just answered the question. It’s not up to you how I answered the question.”
Despite the controversy surrounding the text messages, the White House counsel’s office has yet to address them. In response to Hunter Biden’s recent plea deal on tax charges, the counsel’s office expressed support for the president’s son, stating that they “love their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life.”
Interestingly, while the White House refuses to address the texts, President Biden has publicly embraced his son. Hunter Biden even attended a high-profile state dinner at the White House with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. When asked about his son, the president proudly stated, “I am very proud of my son.”
The text messages in question were revealed during testimony from IRS agent Gary Shapley and were published by House Republicans. In one message, sent on July 30, 2017, Hunter Biden expressed frustration to Chinese businessman Henry Zhao, stating that he was with his father and wanted to understand why a commitment had not been fulfilled. He went on to imply potential consequences, saying, “you will regret not following my direction.”
Furthermore, metadata from Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop indicates that he was at his father’s house in Wilmington, Del., on the day he sent these text messages, as reported by the Washington Free Beacon.
During the briefing, Jean-Pierre clarified that she had not discussed the text messages with Joe Biden and had no plans to do so. She also reiterated her previous statement that Biden never discussed business dealings with his son.
“Nothing has changed,” she affirmed. “Nothing has changed, and I will leave it there.”
