Rob Schneider hilariously shares his love-hate bond with Trump.
Rob Schneider’s Mercurial Relationship with Donald Trump
Actor and comedian Rob Schneider recently shared an intriguing anecdote about his relationship with former President Donald Trump in his new comedy special, Woke Up in America, now streaming on Fox Nation.
In the special, Schneider revealed that he actually voted for Trump in the 2016 election. He humorously recounted the experience, joking about the abundance of ballots he received in California. “I was just filling them out. Not all of them. I’m not an a**hole, but you know three or four … five at the most,” he quipped.
Interestingly, Schneider had the opportunity to meet Trump on multiple occasions. They crossed paths while working together on the film Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
During his time on Leno’s show, Schneider made a joke that Trump didn’t particularly appreciate. “The difference between me and Donald Trump is, when I got started, my dad didn’t give me $40 million,” he teased, sitting right next to Trump on set. The former president vehemently denied the claim, calling Schneider a liar.
Years later, Schneider found himself invited to be a judge in the Miss USA pageant, which was owned by Trump at the time. Backstage, Trump approached him and encouraged him to vote for whoever he wanted, emphasizing that he wouldn’t tell him who to vote for. However, he slyly added, “But if you love your country, like I love my country… if you’re a patriot, then you’re going to vote for the blonde from Texas.”
Impressed by a candidate who was working her way through medical school, Schneider decided to vote for her. This decision didn’t sit well with Trump, who labeled the judges as “losers” and accused them of not loving their country.
Reflecting on the encounter, Schneider recalled Trump’s parting words at the pageant: “I hate you now. Loser.”
As Schneider concluded his story, he humorously remarked, “Whatever. It’s not like you’re ever going to be president of the United States.”
