Social Security update: $914 direct payment arrives in 4 days.
Recipients of the Social Security Administration’s Supplemental Security Income Program to Receive Second Payment This Month
Attention all recipients of the Social Security Administration’s Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program! Get ready for some good news. This coming Friday, you will be receiving your second payment for the month, and it’s going to be worth up to $914 for individual filers.
This payment, scheduled for June 30, marks the second of two checks for June. The first payment was already sent out on June 1. But here’s the exciting part – this second payment is actually replacing July’s payment. How cool is that?
Why the Double Payment?
Now, you might be wondering why you’re getting two payments this month. Well, it’s all because of a small quirk in the SSA’s schedule. Whenever the first of the following month falls on a weekend, recipients are blessed with two checks in that particular month. And since July 1 falls on a Saturday this year, your second payment for June is taking the place of July’s payment. Lucky you!
But don’t worry, this adjusted schedule ensures that you still receive a total of 12 checks per year. Some months will have two payments, while others will have none. In fact, this year, you can expect double payments in March, June, September, and December. This is because the first of the month falls on a weekend in April, July, and October, and let’s not forget that Jan. 1 is always a holiday.
Payment Amounts
Now, let’s talk about the amount of money you’ll be receiving. The payment varies depending on your filing status. If you file individually, you’ll receive a maximum of $914 every month. Eligible couples can expect up to $1,371, while essential persons – those who live with SSI recipients and provide them with necessary care – will receive a monthly payment of $458. The Social Security Administration has got you covered!
What is SSI?
For those who may not be familiar, SSI payments are given in addition to regular Social Security benefits and are specifically designed to support adults and children with blindness or another disability and limited income. It’s a program that provides monthly financial assistance to those who need it most.
To qualify for SSI, you must be over 65, partially blind, or have a physical or mental condition that significantly limits your daily activities for at least 12 months or more, or may even result in death. The program has been in place since January 1974, and payment rates have been adjusted for cost-of-living increases since 1975.
So, mark your calendars and get ready for that second payment this month. It’s always great to receive a little extra support when you need it most!
