In a groundbreaking news conference at Eagle Pass, Texas, Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican candidate for the presidency, outlined his comprehensive strategy to tackle the most severe illegal immigration crisis in U.S. history.

DeSantis also criticized former President Donald Trump’s immigration reduction and border security efforts, highlighting the need for stronger action. He pledged to empower local sheriffs to crack down on illegal immigration and transnational crime, surpassing the approach taken by Trump.
Furthermore, DeSantis pointed out the failures of previous administrations from both parties in addressing the illegal immigration crisis, which has contributed to drug smuggling and negatively impacted the American quality of life.
As part of his plan, DeSantis promised to reinstate successful policies implemented under the Trump administration, such as the Remain in Mexico asylum policy. He believes that by cracking down on asylum fraud, there will be a significant reduction in migration attempts.
Conservative author Ann Coulter praised DeSantis’ immigration platform, highlighting his commitment to defunding and prosecuting entities that aid or conspire to violate U.S. immigration laws.
