Presumed Human Remains Recovered from OceanGate’s Titan Submersible
Exciting news emerged on Wednesday afternoon as U.S. officials announced the recovery of “presumed human remains” from the wreckage at the bottom of the ocean floor. This is the same location where OceanGate’s Titan submersible imploded under extreme pressure.
The Coast Guard confirmed that the remains were carefully retrieved within the wreckage and efforts are underway to transport the evidence to a U.S. Coast Guard cutter for further analysis and testing.

Crucial Evidence for Investigation
The Marine Board of Investigation (MBI) Chair, Captain Jason Neubauer, expressed gratitude for the international and interagency support in recovering and preserving this vital evidence. He emphasized that the evidence will provide critical insights into the cause of the tragedy and help prevent similar incidents in the future.
Discovery of Wreckage
Photos and a video captured the moment when crews carefully moved three large pieces of the OceanGate submersible off the Horizon Arctic ship in St. Johns, Newfoundland. One of the pieces, the largest, appeared to contain mechanical parts and wires, while the other two resembled the sub’s external cover and landing frame.
Search crews located parts of the Titan’s wreckage at the ocean floor last Thursday, confirming the tragic loss of all five passengers aboard the vessel. The debris field was discovered by a remote-operated vehicle (ROV) deployed by the Horizon Arctic.
Rear Admiral John Mauger revealed that the debris found included the tail cone of the Titan submersible, approximately 1,600 feet from the bow of the Titanic on the sea floor. Additional debris consistent with the catastrophic loss of the pressure chamber was also recovered. The families of the victims were promptly notified of their loved ones’ demise.
