Video: Police Rescue Child from Mother in Disturbing Act
Michigan Police Rescue Toddler from Drowning in Dramatic Incident
In a heart-pounding incident, Michigan law enforcement officers burst into a bathroom to save a toddler allegedly being drowned by her own mother. The incredible bodycam footage, shared by news stations, shows an officer bravely pulling the child from the water and performing life-saving CPR until she was revived.
The video, which can be seen on WWMT-TV, captures the intense moments as the officer pleads with the child to “Breathe, baby!” The report also reveals that both the toddler and her 4-year-old sibling had been cut or stabbed.
The police were alerted to the situation when a teenager made a frantic 911 call, claiming that their mother planned to kill the two-year-old girl. According to WXMI-TV, the officers received information that the mother had already killed her sister.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers wasted no time and rushed into the house, with their guns drawn. They heard cries for help coming from a closed bathroom door and forcefully kicked it in. The shocking scene inside showed the mother holding the child underwater.
The officer swiftly intervened, pulling the limp child from the tub and laying her on the floor. He urgently called for medical assistance, describing the child’s stab wound and the mother’s attempt to drown her. After a tense minute of performing CPR, the child finally began to cry, a sign of life.
It was later revealed that the mother and the two children had also ingested a harmful cleaning fluid. The mother, identified as Jessica Edward-Ricks, 35, was arrested and charged with assault with intent to murder and child abuse.
Despite the horrifying ordeal, the children are now in stable condition, according to Albion Police Chief Scott Kipp.
