Federal Law Enforcement Arrests Man Threatening Former President Barack Obama
Federal law enforcement officials have apprehended a man who allegedly made threats against former President Barack Obama. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Taylor Taranto by NBC News and CBS News, was also wanted for his involvement in the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.
According to reports, the Secret Service spotted Taranto just a few blocks away from Obama’s residence. When they pursued him, he attempted to flee towards the former president’s home but was apprehended before reaching it.
CBS News reported that Taranto had a history of making disturbing threats on social media against public figures. Law enforcement sources confirmed that he also had an open warrant related to the January 6th riot.
Upon his arrest, Taranto was found to be in possession of weapons.
