Illinois LIHEAP: Water and sewer bill benefits in 48 hours.
Assistance Available for Water Bills in Illinois
Great news for eligible residents in Illinois! In just two days, you will have access to much-needed assistance to help pay your water bills.
The Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) is here to support those who are at risk of losing access to water for various reasons. The best part is that you can apply for this program using the same application as the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
Who is Eligible for LIHWAP?
- Those who have had their water disconnected
- Individuals in danger of having their water disconnected
- People who owe more than $50 in outstanding payments on their current water bill
But that’s not all! If you don’t owe any money on your water or sewer bill, you can also benefit from the water and sewer rate reduction part of the program starting this Saturday.
It’s important to note that this assistance is available throughout the year, and even if you have used it in previous years, you can still apply for it.
LIHEAP Payments for Heating Assistance
Residents of the Prairie State, along with residents of other states, can also receive LIHEAP payments to help with heating their homes during the colder months.
But what about cooling assistance during the warm summer months? Unfortunately, Illinois is one of the states that does not offer cooling assistance. However, LIHEAP payments can still be incredibly helpful.
How LIHEAP Payments Can Be Used
LIHEAP payments can be used for various purposes, including:
- Purchasing, installing, or repairing air conditioning units
- Investing in heat pumps
- Paying for electric bills
- Providing security deposits for operating cooling equipment
So, if you’re eligible for LIHEAP, make sure to take advantage of this valuable assistance. Stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter!
