Biden administration allocates $4.6M for international LGBT activism using taxpayer funds.
The Biden Administration’s Global Funding for LGBT Projects Sparks Controversy
The Biden administration has allocated nearly $4.6 million to support LGBT initiatives, including drag shows and pride parades, in foreign countries. Advocacy groups from over 55 nations have received funding from the Biden State Department to promote the LGBT community and its ideology worldwide. This funding has facilitated pride parades in seven countries, sponsored drag queen shows in Ecuador, supported a Polish group advocating for puberty blockers, and provided financial assistance to a Mexican organization promoting cross-sex hormones.
This global funding spree is part of the Biden administration’s broader agenda to promote a woke cultural movement both domestically and internationally, even in countries with more traditional social values. In addition to supporting LGBT activism, the administration has allocated millions to combat climate change in various countries and promote gender studies in war-torn nations like Iraq. American taxpayers have also contributed to Pride Month celebrations in Australia, Estonia, Slovenia, and Bosnia.
While the State Department claims that these programs contribute to a safer and more prosperous world, critics argue that the Biden administration is wasting taxpayer funds on far-left causes that do little to strengthen American diplomacy abroad. Terry Schilling, president of the American Principles Project, expressed concern over the imposition of this agenda on American children and the potential alienation of foreign nations.
Since 2021, the Biden administration has funded at least 84 LGBT advocacy projects in 55 countries, with budgets ranging from $5,000 to over $1.5 million. In 2023 alone, nearly $800,000 has been allocated for LGBT projects in nine different countries, including Botswana and Australia.
Furthermore, taxpayer funds have been directed towards foreign groups promoting controversial medical treatments for gender-confused individuals. For example, a Mexican advocacy group received $10,000 to raise awareness and provide medical information for children seeking to change their bodies. Similarly, the State Department allocated funds to an organization in Poland that promotes gender ideology in schools, contradicting the Polish government’s efforts to ban such teachings.
The United States has also sponsored LGBT film and art festivals in Latvia, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and other countries. These initiatives aim to eliminate negative media coverage about the LGBT community and promote digital empathy for LGBT individuals.
While a State Department spokesman defended the funding as a means to reduce discrimination and violence, critics argue that it isolates nations that would typically welcome U.S. aid. The Biden administration’s approach of injecting money into local activism and lecturing governments has not been successful in building consensus or fostering positive relationships.
As Secretary of State Antony Blinken prepares to host a Pride Month reception at the State Department, the controversy surrounding the Biden administration’s global funding for LGBT projects continues to grow.

Despite the State Department’s defense of these programs, the controversy surrounding the Biden administration’s global funding for LGBT projects persists. As the administration continues to prioritize these initiatives, it risks further alienating nations and pushing them towards alternative sources of aid.
