Daily Wire Host Slams Judge’s Decision on Gender Dysphoria Treatment for Minors

In a scathing critique, Daily Wire host Matt Walsh expressed his outrage over a district judge’s ruling that blocked a ban on puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for minors with gender dysphoria.

Walsh took to Twitter to voice his concerns, stating, “This week, federal Judge Eli Richardson declined to halt Tennessee’s ban on child mutilation surgeries. But he issued an injunction against the state’s ban on chemically castrating & sterilizing minors. The opinion is astonishingly bad & the state AG has already appealed.”

Tennessee recently passed a law prohibiting sex-change treatments and surgeries for minors after an undercover investigation by Walsh and his team revealed that Vanderbilt University Medical Center was providing these procedures to underage teens. However, Judge Richardson’s ruling cited unrelated court cases and relied on data from pro-transgender organizations, dismissing objections about the data’s quality.

Walsh criticized the judge’s decision, questioning how he could consider castration and sterilization of minors as “medical care” and disregarding expert opinions against cross-sex hormones. He also highlighted the judge’s use of euphemisms to downplay the risks and effects of these procedures.

The judge’s ruling has raised concerns about the resumption of sterilizing hormone therapies for minors, as indicated by Vanderbilt’s deputy CEO. Walsh also pointed out the potential bias of Judge Richardson, highlighting the backgrounds of his former clerks who have affiliations with left-wing activist groups.

Despite the disappointing ruling, Walsh remains hopeful as the state attorney general has already initiated an appeal. The fight to protect minors from irreversible procedures continues.

Editor’s Note: A previous version of this story incorrectly labeled Judge Eli Richardson a Tennessee state judge.
