Buttigieg criticizes Christian in SCOTUS case: Purposefully sought to create controversy.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg Criticizes Supreme Court Ruling on Christian Web Designer

During an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” with host Dana Bash, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg expressed his disagreement with the recent Supreme Court decision in the case of 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis. The Court ruled 6-3 in favor of Lorie Smith, a Christian web designer, stating that she cannot be compelled by state civil rights law to create websites that go against her deeply-held religious beliefs.

Buttigieg, who lacks a legal background, dismissed the majority opinion written by Justice Neil Gorsuch, claiming that it lacked merit. He went on to suggest that there was no evidence of anyone actually requesting a same-sex wedding website from Smith, insinuating that she had entered the wedding business solely to provoke a legal case.

Furthermore, Buttigieg drew a parallel between this Supreme Court ruling and similar actions taking place in state legislatures across the country. He argued that these cases were attempts to undermine the recent progress made in LGBTQ+ rights and equality.
