Nikki Haley cautions about Chinese military expansion: ‘Work ahead’.
China’s Military Growth Raises Concerns
Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley has issued a warning about China’s military buildup, stating that the country has been preparing for war with the United States for decades. In an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” Haley expressed her concerns about the U.S. military’s focus on issues such as radical gender ideology, while China has been rapidly improving its military capabilities.
Haley highlighted China’s naval fleet, which is now the largest in the world with 340 ships compared to the U.S.’s 293. She also mentioned China’s development of hypersonic missiles and advancements in cyber, artificial intelligence, and space technologies. According to Haley, the U.S. military is lagging behind in these areas.
Recognizing the need for action, Haley emphasized the importance of strengthening the U.S. military and addressing the China issue immediately. She called for diplomatic, economic, and military measures to deal with China, including ending Chinese entities’ purchase of American farmland, stopping Chinese propaganda in American universities, and cracking down on the smuggling of fentanyl across the border.
Haley also criticized the influence of Chinese companies, such as Huawei, Tencent, and Alibaba, and called for an end to their lobbying efforts in the United States.
China Responds to Haley’s Remarks
Haley’s comments about China being an enemy rather than a competitor drew attention and prompted a response from the Chinese embassy in the United States. The embassy spokesperson accused Haley of smear tactics and warned that those who engage in such behavior will be forgotten by history.
In response, Haley criticized China for its role in the American fentanyl crisis and called for an end to their spying, economic theft, and military threats against American allies.
Nikki Haley served as the United Nations Ambassador from 2017 to 2018 during the Trump administration. She is currently a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, polling at 3% according to a recent Morning Consult poll.
