Vivek Ramaswamy Launches Scholarship to Reignite Patriotism in Youth
Entrepreneur Commits $250,000 in Scholarships to Revive Patriotism Among Young Americans
Entrepreneur and 2024 Republican presidential primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has announced an exciting initiative to foster national pride among younger Americans. In an effort to combat the decline in civic pride and the decreasing number of people who say they are proud to be Americans, Ramaswamy will be committing $250,000 in scholarship funds.
Ramaswamy, who has recently placed third in a presidential poll, expressed concern over the alarming statistics. He stated, “Only 16% of Gen Z says they’re proud to be American. 60% of teens on TikTok would rather give up their right to vote than their social media account. Our military suffered a 25% recruitment deficit last year. This bodes poorly for our nation.”

Scholarship Program Details
- Ten high school students will receive a $25,000 scholarship.
- Applicants must submit a two-minute video explaining what it means to be an American.
- A panel of judges will evaluate the submissions.
- The scholarship funds can be used for postsecondary education, a business enterprise, or those planning to serve in law enforcement or the military.
Ramaswamy has partnered with Incubate Debate, a non-profit organization that encourages free speech and respectful debates, to administer the scholarship program.
Explaining his motivation behind the initiative, Ramaswamy wrote, “As an entrepreneur, I believe in solving problems through private behavior whenever possible. That’s why we are funding a new scholarship to revive patriotism. Actions speak louder than words, and I believe in putting our money where our mouth is.”
The Need for Reviving Patriotism
While older generations tend to be more patriotic, younger Americans have shown increasing skepticism towards their country, particularly along partisan lines. A recent poll from Gallup revealed that only 42% of Republicans aged 18-34 are extremely proud of their country, while a mere 12% of Democrats in the same age group express pride in being Americans.
Ramaswamy, co-founder of Strive Asset Management, has gained significant support in the presidential race, ranking third in a recent poll from Echelon Insights. However, the Real Clear Politics average places him behind several other candidates. Despite this, Ramaswamy remains committed to his mission of reviving the American national identity, emphasizing the importance of shared values and purpose for progress.
