Tom Cruise shares thoughts on top movies this year and future of ‘Mission Impossible’ films.
Tom Cruise Hopes to Continue Making Movies for Decades
Actor Tom Cruise recently expressed his desire to follow in the footsteps of Harrison Ford and continue his career in the film industry for the next couple of decades.
The 61-year-old Cruise, in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald in Australia, praised the 80-year-old Ford, who is still actively making movies, as a “legend.”
“I hope to be still going; I’ve got 20 years to catch up with him,” Cruise said. “I hope to keep making Mission: Impossible films until I’m his age.”
Cruise made these remarks as his upcoming summer blockbuster film, “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” is set to hit theaters next week.
“I grew up seeing movies on the big screen. That’s how I make them, and I like that experience; it’s immersive, and to have that as a community and an industry, it’s important,” Cruise emphasized. “I still go to the movies.”
Excitement for Summer Movies
Cruise also shared his enthusiasm for the top movies he wants to see this summer.
- Barbie
- Oppenheimer
“I want to see both Barbie and Oppenheimer. I’ll see them opening weekend. Friday I’ll see Oppenheimer first and then Barbie on Saturday,” Cruise revealed.
Additionally, Cruise gave fans a sneak peek into his upcoming film by tweeting a video showcasing a train action sequence filmed in Norway with director Christopher McQuarrie.

“This train sequence was tricky, but the outcome made it all worth it,” Cruise tweeted. “I can’t wait for everyone to see it come to life!”
In the clip, McQuarrie discusses the movie’s sense of adventure and how they had always wanted to include an action train sequence. The footage showcases Cruise’s character, Ethan Hunt, on top of a moving train and the construction of a train shell in a warehouse to create movie magic.
“We had to build a train if we wanted to destroy it,” McQuarrie explained, highlighting the team’s dedication to practical effects. The video also reveals a fight scene on top of the moving train and the destruction of a bridge to enhance the audience’s investment in the characters’ journey.
