Israeli forces kill 2 terrorists in shooting attack.
Israeli Security Forces Kill Two Palestinians in Shooting Attack
Israeli security forces have announced that they killed two Palestinians who carried out a shooting attack against police earlier this week. The incident took place in the occupied West Bank town of Nablus, where Israeli forces raided in response to the attack. According to the military, “both terrorists were killed following an exchange of fire.”
The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Israeli troops had cordoned off a house where the two attackers had holed up and claimed they had been “executed.”
The armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a major faction in the Palestine Liberation Organization, has claimed responsibility for the attack on Israeli police. The group confirmed that the two men killed were their members.
Separate Incident Results in Palestinian Casualty
Meanwhile, near the city of Ramallah, violence erupted during an anti-settlement protest. Palestinian residents reported that Jewish settlers arrived, leading to a clash involving stone-throwing. Israeli soldiers at the scene allegedly opened fire, resulting in the death of one Palestinian. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
Wave of Violence Continues
Friday’s violence follows a recent two-day Israeli operation in the densely populated Jenin refugee camp, which has been a hotspot of violence in the West Bank for over a year. The Israeli military targeted infrastructure and weapons depots of Palestinian militant factions in Jenin, resulting in the deaths of twelve Palestinians, most of whom were confirmed as militant fighters. Around 100 people were wounded in the incursion, which involved more than 1,000 troops and caused significant damage to homes and streets.
Israel claims that all Palestinians killed during the operation were combatants, while one Israeli soldier lost their life.
