The Pennsylvania Property Tax/Rent Rebate program deadline has been extended to Dec. 31, offering residents a rebate worth up to $650. This program, designed to provide financial assistance to elderly or disabled residents of Pennsylvania, has been a lifeline for many individuals in need.
“Since this program’s inception in 1971, it has delivered more than $8 billion in property tax and rent relief. This has made a tremendous impact for people in communities throughout Pennsylvania who benefit from this program,”
Eligibility for this program is as follows: Pennsylvanians must be 65 and older, widows and widowers 50 and older, or individuals with disabilities 18 and older.
Homeowners can receive a rebate based on their annual income:
- Earn $8,000 or less annually: $650 rebate
- Earn $8,001 to $15,000 annually: $500 rebate
- Earn $15,001 to $18,000 annually: $300 rebate

Exciting news! Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) has proposed an expansion to the program in his 2023-2024 budget. This expansion aims to provide even more relief for seniors who rely on these rebates in every Pennsylvania county. Under Shapiro’s proposal, the maximum standard rebate would increase from $650 to $1,000, and the income limits for renters and homeowners would be equalized and raised to $45,000.
Applicants can conveniently submit their rebate application online through mypath.pa.gov. Remember to include accurate information about your income and rent/property taxes.
