82nd Airborne Chorus wows at ‘America’s Got Talent’

The U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Infantry Division Takes “America’s Got Talent” by Storm

The U.S. Army‘s 82nd Airborne Infantry Division is renowned for its battlefield prowess. These soldiers specialize in parachute assault operations and can be deployed anywhere in the world within 18 hours. However, it was the division’s chorus that stole the show on “America’s Got Talent.”

The 82nd Airborne chorus captivated the audience and brought the house down during their recent appearance on the competition show. Judges Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell couldn’t help but cheer for their incredible performance.

The chorus took the stage in true military fashion, marching and calling cadence as they made their way to their positions. This prompted a look of slight confusion from Cowell. After settling them in, the group’s leader, Staff Sergeant Gilbert, amused the audience with a casual greeting, “Hey, everybody.”

Gilbert introduced the group, proudly stating that they were all part of the 82nd Airborne Division’s “All-American Chorus” from North Carolina.

“This is amazing!” Cowell exclaimed. “I’m really curious, so obviously this is what you do full time. What’s the big dream, then, coming on the show?”

“We’re here to win,” declared Gilbert.

“Oh, wow,” Cowell responded, and the audience erupted in cheers. “Who are you doing this for?”

“So, we wanted to dedicate this performance to Specialist Elijah Crawford, one of our soldiers who we lost last week, and to all the soldiers who have passed before him,” Gilbert replied, his voice filled with emotion. He added, “I told myself I wasn’t going to…” before tearing up.

“That is very respectful,” Cowell acknowledged. “And I’m really sorry, by the way. Really sorry. We’re all rooting for you.”

Gilbert kicked off the performance with a harmonized version of a routine cadence. Then, after a few lines, they switched gears and launched into an a cappella rendition of the Temptations hit “My Girl.”

Their last notes were still resonating when the audience leaped to their feet, including Cowell, applauding and cheering with enthusiasm.

Don’t miss the 82nd Airborne Chorus’ full performance on “America’s Got Talent” on July 11.
