DeSantis faults Disney’s ‘woke’ agenda for park attendance decline.

Gov. Ron DeSantis: Disney’s “Woke” Agenda Impacting Ticket Sales

According to Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), Disney’s “woke” agenda is having a negative effect on ticket sales to their beloved theme parks. Recent reports have shown unusually short lines and empty parks this summer.

“I think it is impacting parents who want to take their kids to Disney,” DeSantis expressed during an interview on The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show.

As a father of young children himself, the Florida governor strongly believes that children should be able to enjoy school and cartoons without any hidden agendas being forced upon them.

Furthermore, Gov. DeSantis revealed that the hardworking Disney employees are in support of his efforts. He cited 2022 electoral data from the counties surrounding Disney World in Orlando, Florida, as evidence.

“The sad part about it, guys, is when we were having this fight with Disney in 2022, most of the employees in their Orlando area theme parks agreed with us,” DeSantis shared.

He proudly mentioned winning Osceola County, where the majority of Disney employees reside, by 7 percentage points, a feat not achieved by a Republican in a generation. Gov. DeSantis is a potential candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential race.

In addition to the decline in theme park attendance, critics have also pointed out the political backlash affecting Disney’s franchise movie, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, labeling it a box office flop. However, this is not the first time Disney has faced disappointment at the box office in 2023. Films like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, The Little Mermaid, and Elemental have also struggled financially.
