VIDEO: Anti-Semitic Dictator Extends ‘Best of Luck’ to Biden for 2024
Anti-Semitic Dictator Wishes Biden ‘Best of Luck’ in 2024
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the anti-Semitic Turkish dictator, surprised everyone on Tuesday when he publicly wished U.S. President Joe Biden “the best of luck” in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
“Now you are getting prepared for the forthcoming elections,” Erdoğan told Biden through a translator, “and with the forthcoming elections I would like to take this opportunity to also wish you the best of luck.”
“Thank you very much,” Biden responded. “I look forward to meeting with you in the next five years.”
Erdoğan and Biden are currently meeting in Lithuania as part of a NATO summit. During their meeting, Erdoğan agreed to support Sweden’s bid to join the organization, which led to the Biden administration approving the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey, as requested by Erdoğan.
This unexpected display of camaraderie between Biden and Erdoğan has raised eyebrows, considering the Turkish president’s controversial reputation. Erdoğan has been widely criticized for his authoritarianism and anti-Semitism, with a history of suppressing dissent, cracking down on free speech, arresting journalists, and going on anti-Semitic rants.
Interestingly, Biden’s stance towards Erdoğan has evolved over time. During the 2020 election, Biden referred to Erdoğan as an “autocrat” and expressed support for Turkish opposition leaders. His administration also condemned Erdoğan’s anti-Semitic remarks in 2021. However, in recent months, Biden seems to have changed his tune, even going so far as to adopt Erdoğan’s preferred name for Turkey, “Türkiye.”
